Deux-Montagnes, July 15, 2019 – JESUISCOURTOIS.COM: A first campaign to raise awareness about sharing the road and encouraging courtesy between motorists, cyclists and pedestrians is being launched this week throughout the territory covered by the Régie de police du lac des Deux-Montagnes (RPLDM).

Developed and deployed in collaboration with the cities of Deux-Montagnes and Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, as well as the municipalities of Saint-Joseph-du-Lac and Pointe-Calumet, this vast campaign features the colorful character Joe Latraverse. Through video vignettes showing him as a pedestrian, motorist and cyclist, Joe provides the public with tips and advice on how to ensure courtesy among all road users.

With this campaign, the Régie de police du lac de Deux-Montagnes aims to

  • make motorists aware of the obligation to yield to pedestrians at duly identified locations
  • educate pedestrians to cross the street at intersections or crosswalks
  • educate cyclists on proper practices both on the road and at crosswalks
  • Secure all pedestrian crossings within its jurisdiction;
  • Reduce the number of traffic accidents that occur on our roads.

“The Régie de police is proud to launch this first awareness campaign on a subject that is very close to its heart, namely the safety of the population we serve. I would like to salute the exceptional collaboration of the municipal elected officials and employees involved in the planning and deployment of this major campaign. Finally, I would like to highlight the major financial participation of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec, which made this campaign possible,” said Patrick Denis, Director of the Régie de police du lac des Deux-Montagnes.

The Régie de police du lac des Deux-Montagnes, the cities of Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac and Deux-Montagnes and the municipalities of Pointe-Calumet and Saint-Joseph-du-Lac invite the entire population to visit the Jesuiscourtois.com website to meet the friendly Joe!
