Crime scenes and investigations

The forensic identification is a support service to all other divisions of the Régie de police du Lac des Deux-Montagnes.

Upon discovery of a crime scene or during the course of an investigation, the Judicial Identity may be called upon to apply one of several forensic techniques such as :

  • collecting elements of physical evidence for analysis (fingerprints, DNA, etc.)
  • photographing and documenting the state of a crime scene’s premises
  • fingerprinting and photographing the accused in accordance with the Criminal Code of Canada
  • ensuring the integrity of the evidence seized and stored
  • identifying altered or burned vehicles
  • search for evidence and causes of a fire that may be of a criminal nature
